This may not be the biggest, or most ground-breaking software release of the century, but:
I am a sucker for a nice looking terminal application.
I am doubly a sucker for an application that “does one thing and does it well”.
I present to you: “Typioca”. A simple to use terminal application for determining how fast you type. And it looks rather classy while doing it.
Nice looking, right?
There’s really not much else to say. Runs on Linux (etc.). In the shell. Tests how fast you type. Looks “classy retro” while you do it.
Those are a bunch of my favorite words. I’m sold!
Total side note: Typioca was built using a Go framework known as “Bubble Tea”, which is focused on building nice looking shell applications. And, from the looks of things, does a darn good job of it.
Of course you want “Linux Tycoon 3 - The OS Wars”. Launching nuclear weapons against operating system vendors with ANSI art? Who doesn’t want that? Plus, it’s free with every subscription to The Lunduke Journal.
bubble tea UI looks slick! Shameless plug: https://github.com/budlabs/typiskt <- i have a very similar application made in bash, it will see an update this month probably.
