If you happen to have a Silicon Graphics workstation laying around, powered by the IRIX operating system, you can find a rather awesome little Easter Egg.
Open up a terminal and launch the “Audio Panel” with the “Spinal Tap” option by running the following:
audiopanel -spinaltap
This is the result:
You’ll note… the volume now… goes to 11.
This wasn’t the only Easter Egg to be found within IRIX. Whoever worked on the Audio Panel, in particular, had a heck of a sense of humor.
For example, here’s the man page for the Audio Panel. Note… the “Nutrition Facts”.
”Partially hydrogenated chupacabra oil.” Love it.
Now. Ask yourself. Does the volume in your operating system to to 11?
"According to UltimateClassicRock webzine, former Spinal Tap drummer Ric Parnell, known for his pseudonym Mick Shrimpton, has passed away at the age of 70."
Turn it up to 11 for a fallen hero.
