LundukeFest is back on the schedule! May 14th, 2022!
"Linux Sucks", Retro Computing, Internet History & more are on the schedule!
LundukeFest — a one-day, virtual conference focused on Linux, alternative operating systems, and retro computing — was originally scheduled to take place last January.
Unfortunately the event had to be postponed after I got my second round of Covid and it completely knocked me out. Now, after a rather grueling recovery, I am finally well enough to put LundukeFest back on the schedule!
If you aren’t yet a full subscriber to The Lunduke Journal, now’s the time to do so to reserve your ticket to the event!
The Lunduke Fest schedule!
LundukeFest will take place on Saturday, May 14th, 2022! This is an all-day event with sessions beginning at 9am Pacific!
How to attend LundukeFest
This first LundukeFest will be 100% virtual.
Your subscription to The Lunduke Journal is your ticket to LundukeFest.
If you haven’t purchased your subscription yet, there’s still plenty of time!
You have your choice of three different ways to subscribe to The Lunduke Journal: Substack, Locals, or Patreon. Because choices are good!
All three options give you all the same perks (the free eBooks, exclusive articles, games, etc.), and all three give you a full pass to LundukeFest.
Full recordings of every session will be provided to all Lunduke Journal subscribers immediately following the event. So if you can’t make it for the entire event, no worries!
Note: The recorded sessions from LundukeFest will only be made available to full subscribers to The Lunduke Journal.
LundukeFest Session Details
“Weird Tales of Linux Weirdness”
Linux is over a quarter of a century old. And, in that time, a whole heaping helping of weird stuff has happened. Join Lunduke for a trip through some of the strangest, funkiest, and weirdest tales from the world of Linux.
"Turn Your Android Phone Into the Ultimate Retro Computing Battlestation"
This session is exactly what it sounds like. By the time you leave, you’ll have turned your Android Phone into an absolute beast of retro-computing goodness. Want a Commodore 64, DOS PC, or Mac Plus in your pocket? Hints, Tips, Examples, and detailed How-To’s to make it happen. And soooooo much more.
“The (True) Untold History of the Internet”
What if I told you that everything you think you know about the history of the Internet… is wrong? Join Lunduke on a tour through the true history of TCP, the World Wide Web, and everything else Internet-y. Be prepared to have your minds blown and sacred cows turned into hamburgers.
“Linux Sucks 2022”
Every Linux Sucks show has its own feel. It’s own vibe. The 2022 show (which I have been looking forward to for many moons) I would best describe as “Cathartic… with chuckles”.
If you’re watching Linux Sucks shows from years past, I would most closely compare it to the 2016 show. With a dash of the 2014 show. But more… different-er.
I’m telling you right now. It’s going to be a hoot and a half. At least.
“Lunduke & Hartley Talk Nerdy”
Join Lunduke & famed Tech Journalist, Matt Hartley, as they talk about happy, awesome nerdy things. Bring your questions, because you get to set the topics!
“Breakout Sessions”
There are time-slots for multiple Breakout Sessions during the day. What are those sessions about? That’s up to all of you! The LundukeFest attendees get to decide what we’ll all be talking about together — and even a chance for the community to present impromptu sessions of their own!
LundukeFest Rules
There are a few, very simple, rules for participating in LundukeFest.
No cursin’ or swearin’.
No politics.
Be Excellent to Each Other.
LundukeFest is a family friendly event. Everyone — of every age — is welcome!
