Lunduke interviews nerdy musicians
MC Frontalot & Pete Mitchell (No More Kings). Two very nerdy, very awesome musicians.
One of the perks of my job (if you can really call it that), is that nobody can tell me what I can (or can’t) do.
If, at any given moment, I feel like talking to my favorite musicians… then, dagnabbit, that’s exactly what I’m gonna do.
I’ve dug a few interviews out of my archives with two (very nerdy) musicians: MC Frontalot (the king of Nerdcore) and Pete Mitchell (the frontman for No More Kings). I present them below for your enjoyment.
All of the videos are hosted over on The Lunduke Journal Community site (Lunduke.Locals.com). All free to watch, no account necessary.
Warning: Some of these older shows contain some naughty words. Primarily when I talk with MC Frontalot. I stick pretty hard to a “no swearin and cursin” rule nowadays, but back then I was a bit more ok with naughty words slipping out here and there.
Warning #2: My personal views on some things have evolved over time. But this is a fun time capsule of both my thoughts — and the thoughts of two incredibly fun musicians — from some years back.
Pete Mitchell (No More Kings) - Oct 13, 2016
No More Kings is one of my absolute favorite bands. Fronted by Pete Mitchell, they recorded songs about The Karate Kid, Knight Rider, Night of the Living Dead, Zombies in general, D&D, Gulliver’s Travels, and frequently makes other nerdy references.
Plus… the tunes are so choice.
Oh, and check out the way I did shows back then! The visual style of “A Linux Desktop with video windows” was kinda fun!
MC Frontalot - Apr 26, 2017
Back in 2017, I got to talk with the king of nerdcore rap: MC Frontalot.
We talked about Nerdcore. We talked about the Commodore 64. We talked Creative Commons licensing. We talked about all sorts of stuff.
His video froze, then unfroze, then froze again. But the audio held.
Naughty language warning on this one.
MC Frontalot - Feb 27, 2019
How I described this interview back when I first released it in 2019:
“I get to hang out with the papa of Nerdcore, MC Frontalot, to talk about his new album, Net Split, his break-up album (sorta) with the Internet. We then talk about 300 baud modems on C64's and other things that prove how old we are. In other news: I love my job.”
Worth noting: I still love my job.
Also… probably a naughty language warning is in order for this one too. I haven’t re-watched it to be sure… but it’s Frontalot. A naughty word may have slipped out. ;)
