The House of Lunduke BBS is a 20 node, telnet accessible BBS with a heavy focus on classic BBS gaming.

telnet to bbs.lunduke.com on port 23

The games on the House of Lunduke BBS include some of the best BBS games ever created. Including TradeWars 2002, LORD (Legend of The Red Dragon), The Pit, DoorMUD, and Exitilus.

You should be able to use any Telnet client to log into the BBS. For example:

telnet bbs.lunduke.com

That will technically work. However it will not look quite right.

I highly recommend using a Telnet client that specifically supports ANSI and BBS style functionality. Such as:

  • Netrunner

  • SyncTERM

  • Or, for the most authentic experience, follow my tutorial on using actual DOS communication software via DOSBox.

Important: Remember to write down your password (such as in a secure password manager or a sticky note on your monitor). There is no mechanism for resetting your password. Lose your password? You’ll be starting over from scratch. We’re old-school like that.

Free to use for everyone… but paying subscribers to The Lunduke Journal (either on Lunduke.Substack.com or Lunduke.Locals.com) can get Infinite Access (tm) (meaning you can be online 24 hours a day). Just follow these steps:

  1. Login to bbs.lunduke.com.

  2. From the Main Menu choose option “E” (for Email).

  3. Hit “K” to send “Feedback to SysOp”.

  4. In that email let me know that you are a full subscriber to The Lunduke Journal, and let me know what your email address is that you use to subscribe.

The process of granting Infinite Access (tm) is manual, so it won’t be instant. But you should have full, 24 hour access within a few hours to a few days.

Is it really 30 mins? Me and my friend from Canada have subscribed to the bbs today, and we feel not having enough time to play our turns on Tradewars.
