Announcing Lunduke Journal Founding Member subscriptions
Includes some fun perks: Monthly group video chats, and even 1-on-1 chats for the high rollers.
Recently the price of a subscription to The Lunduke Journal was reduced, quite dramatically, to make it possible for more people to be able to get a subscription to the nerdiest publication in all the land.
This is a win-win for everyone. Less cost is good for all of you. And more subscribers is good for The Lunduke Journal.
And I’d like to reduce that price, for the average person, even further. Much, much further if possible.
Of course, we still need to pay for operations and keep the lights on here at The Lunduke Journal. What to do, what to do…
Lunduke Journal Founding Member Subscriptions
The idea is simple.
Those who can afford to pay a little extra, can do so by going to the Subscription page, and selecting “Founding Member”… then entering whatever amount you are comfortable with. Then you get some pretty rad perks (more details below).
$50. $100. $1,000,000 (assuming you have your own skull shaped island with laser sharks in it… I feel like a few of you actually might have one of those). Whatever seems right. Follow your heart.
The more Founding Members sign up, the more we can reduce the subscription price for everyone else — while still keeping the income level for The Lunduke Journal steady.
“Why not bring in corporate advertising and sponsorships?”
The Lunduke Journal is 100% independent. No company can influence the nerdy things that get published here (or what doesn’t get published). I’d like to keep it that way.
Of course, there should be some sort of awesome benefit to becoming a Founding Member beyond simply the warm, fuzzy feelings of knowing you made it possible for more people to afford a subscription.
Cool perks for becoming a Lunduke Journal Founding Member:
A monthly, casual video hang out with just Lunduke and the other Founders. Chat about life, nerdy things, BBQ, movies… whatever the group feels like talking about each month.
A personal Thank You email from Lunduke. Because you’re awesome.
Your name included (optionally, however you’d like it displayed) at the end of each article, with a link to your website (github, twitter, youtube, whatever you like… as long as it’s safe for work and family friendly). A little declaration of “these cool nerds made things less expensive for everyone else”.
Obviously Founding Members get all of the other subscriber perks as well.
Warm, fuzzy feelings. Lots of them.
For anyone who contributes $100 or more also gets:
Request one in-game action in “Linux Tycoon 3 - The OS Wars”, complete with a little custom ANSI artwork. Because… why not?
For anyone who contributes $500 or more also gets:
A 1-on-1 video hang out with Lunduke. Just you and me. For up to an hour. We can talk about anything you like. You can record it and keep it private… or release it to the world. It’s yours.
There you go. Nice and simple.
If you love The Lunduke Journal, have a few extra buckazoids burning a hole in your pocket, and want to help out… you know what to do.
I'd be glad to support the founder level but I'm a bit confused about the Substack/Locals split. Which is better to use? It would seem Substack to me, but since I'm only subscribed on the Substrack level I don't know what I'm missing with locals. Please, quench my FOMO!
I can only really do max $50 if I push it. All your fault Lunduke, now I have NO CHOICE but to roll out the world domination scheme early to get those perks and the one on one. Well, laser sharks and doom satellites here we come.
