Hi Bryan, my BBS has mods that have API & web driven stuff in them, so there's a mish-mash of old and new in there. I use Mystic as the BBS software, works a charm. Most of it is nothing much more high tech than curl and a bunch of bash scripts ;). For example I have a cryptocoin market value mod, a web browser (text mode), IRC client and much more. - What classic game would you remake as AV or VR? Too many to choose from but Joust would be neat I think in a VR world. It was that or Space Quest very hard choice with so many.
- Wayland or X11? X11 IMHO Wayland is not ready yet
- Any guidance for BBS newbies? Be patient
- Specs of my dream machine. RISC-5 processor with 32 cores, 32GB ram, mirrored 4TB NVME, AMD GPU, 10GB Ethernet, 56K modem, Bluray/DVD/CD RW, and a 3.5" floppy drive.
- If I could have *any* computer, which one? The Framework modular laptop but if it's a retro computer it would have to be an original BE box. I would take an Amiga too since well it's an Amiga. Of of the three but I guess the Framework laptop would be more obtainable today than the others.
- What OS have I never used on real hardware, but want to? Haiku I tried to install it on an HP laptop several times now from alpha to their latest betas but I have yet to get it to work. Came pretty close with this last beta. It needs more stability before it can be used as a daily driver even if it doesn't support all peripherals.
- Debate club! Argue for systemd. Never been in a debate club so I don't know how to proceed. I would find it hard to argue for something I don't understand the need for.
- Revive one Tech brand from the dead. It's a toss up Be or Amiga
