Germany planning to start using Linux, then stop using Linux again. Again.
Linux users applaud the move... until Germany switches back to Windows in a few months.
The German town of Verwirrt has announced plans to move all government computers to using Open Source software, including Linux and Libre Office, over the coming months. And then switch back to Windows again a few months from now.
“Our town of Verwirrt will be following in the proud tradition of other German towns and municipalities,” stated the town’s mayor, Herr Verzögern. “Do we use Linux? Do we use Windows? Who cares! The important thing is that we get to make a big announcement about making the switch! We get a bunch of free press and all we had to do was install some free software!”
“I can’t recommend this move enough,” said one city council member from the city of Munich. “We’ve switched to Linux like, what? 4 times now? And every time all the Linux nerds are like ‘Woo-hoo!’. Then Microsoft swoops in and dumps a pile of deutschemarks on us to switch back to Windows. Come to think of it… my deutschemark pile is getting a tad too low to properly do the Scrooge McDuck swim! Time to ‘switch to Linux’ again, wink wink nudge nudge.”
This is satire. Ergmagersh!
If you aren’t currently a subscriber to The Lunduke Journal, I highly recommend it. It is so choice. The free edition is great. If you pitch in a few bucks you get some fun perks (and warm fuzzies). The Lunduke Journal community is also a ton of fun.
I'm honestly not sure that this is satire... ;)
