The Java-the-script example is brilliant. I’ve tried explaining that problem to rational programmers but have never managed such a succinct gut-punch.

What I still cannot fathom is why anyone would ever write “Hello world.” in a language with behavior like that, much less write applications used by Fortune 500 companies. It’s like it was designed to introduce horrific security problems.

Wait. Silly me.
