Your criticisms of Twitter are valid. However, in my view, Twitter is one specific bad example of the "Un-Echo-Chamber." Their character constraints make it impossible to cite sources, give context and detail, and have nuanced discussions. For this reason alone (not to mention the other criticisms you outline), I have refused to make an account on that platform to this day. However, there are some other platforms and channels that do a better job of facilitating more lengthy, detailed, and polite communication between people who have different viewpoints. In my experience, using these platforms can widen one's perspective on what they believe and how to best argue for it, and this is something that is often missing in the smaller, like-minded groups where everyone has a shared label.

People should not be emotionally attached to, or defined by, their opinions. The world would be a far better place if people were more willing to leave their echo chambers and have open-minded, long-form discussions with people who have different views. How else are we to address the political polarization in our country?
