Ada Lovelace accused of not collaborating well with GNOME Project
Lovelace has not submitted a single line of code to the GNOME project.
A core member of the GNOME team, Christopher Davis, has accused famed computer programmer, Ada Lovelace, of not collaborating well with the open source desktop project.
“I’ve been making veiled comments about a situation in the Linux desktop community for a while,” Tweeted Davis in a not-at-all overly dramatic way. “And I think it’s finally time to lift the curtain.”
“This is a case study on how not to collaborate with upstream,” stated Davis on his blog post, Monday. “Of course, I do not speak for GNOME as a whole, only for myself. But Ada Lovelace is just the worst. Everyone on the GNOME team thinks so.”
In Davis’ lengthy blog post, he goes into great detail on the number of complaints the GNOME team has with the programming pioneer.
“Lovelace fixed bugs in her own code for the Analytical Engine before submitting new patches to the GNOME project! This is truly poor behavior. Absolutely outrageous!”
“In fact, we looked through all of her code in 1843’s Sketch of the Analytical Engine and we couldn’t find a single line of code intended for use within GNOME. Not one. That’s just being a bad contributor.”
“Lovelace has completely failed to write any code in CSS or Javascript, the preferred languages of the GNOME project. Not using CSS and Javascript is literally violence.”
Ada Lovelace could not be immediately reached for comment.
This is satire. Feel like that probably shouldn’t need to be said… but just in case. I highly recommend sharing this with your GNOME-loving friends. Just because.
