Why I won't be buying a Steam Deck.
The Steam Deck is cool. No doubt. But, try as I might, I can't find a good reason to buy one.
The Steam Deck, from Valve, is taking the Linux gaming world by storm. Darn near every Linux-focused commentator and YouTuber has spent the week salivating and fawning over Valve’s hand-held gaming computer.
And, honestly? For good reason.
A Linux-powered, hand-held gaming console? From a major gaming company? With a pretty large game compatibility list?
There’s a lot to like in there! Heck, the hardware doesn’t look half bad, either!
NVMe SSD storage. A pretty doggone beefy AMD CPU, backed by a similarly fancy GPU, powered by 16 GB of RAM. I mean. Dang.
Just look at it!
But, you know what? After thinking on it long and hard…
I’m not going to be buying one. Allow me to elucidate.
