The 10 Best NES Games of All Time (according to Lunduke)

Lunduke declares which Nintendo Entertainment System games are his absolute favorite.

I loved my NES.

Heck. I still love my NES. And, yes, I still own the original Nintendo Entertainment System that I got way back in 1985. As a wee lad.

This isn’t my NES box. My box is in storage… and in no where near this good of condition. Same Deluxe Set though.

And, boy howdy, do I have opinions on which NES games are the best (meaning: “I like them the most”). So I’m going to list them for you.

Will I include some games you don’t like? Or miss some of your favorites?

Without further ado… the most important NES game list of all time. In order.

10) The Adventures of Lolo

A fun, light, strategy game. Move around blocks to escape each screen. Good fun.

9) Bionic Commando

Swinging! Shooting! More swinging!

8) Super Mario Bros. 3

One of the best Mario games ever.

7) Blaster Master

Blaster Master is, quite simply, a fantastic game. I replay this one every few years.

6) The Legend of Zelda

The first Zelda remains one of my favorites. Pure. Fun. Challenging as all heck. A truly excellent action RPG.

5) Blades of Steel

Might be pure nostalgia at this point, but Blades of Steel is my favorite Hockey game. Hands down.

4) Maniac Mansion

Playing Maniac Mansion using the NES controller is… clunky. But oh so much fun. Quirky, goofy, and weird.

3) Rampage

Not the best port of Rampage. But still a heck of a lot of fun to destroy buildings.

2) Sid Meier’s Pirates!

Several ports of Pirates! exist. This one not being the most polished or visually interesting. But it is amazingly fun and replayable, just the same.

1) Defender of the Crown

Defender of the Crown is an amazing game. No matter what platform you play it on. Spent many an hour conquering Britain.
