LundukeFest delayed (again) due to illness & weather
Lunduke is still sick. And now there's an ice storm. The Fest must (unfortunately) be delayed.
LundukeFest was originally scheduled for this last Saturday (Jan 29) - and needed to be delayed as I got very ill and lost my voice. We bumped the conference out one week (to this coming Saturday) thinking that would be plenty of time to recover.
Well, here we are, almost one week later… and I’m still terribly sick. Has settled in my lungs and I’ve got a gnarly cough (which makes some rather disgusting noises). Even if I could keep myself upright long enough to record a show… it would be kinda gross.
To add insult to injury, my entire family is now sick. Wife and all the kids.
And, based on my recovery — and people in the area that seem to have gotten this illness before we did — there is zero chance of any member of my family being recovered by this weekend.
On top of this… we’re currently experiencing an ice storm here in Texas that is expected to last until Saturday. Our power has only flickered once… but the possibility of power loss (and other weather related troubles) complicates things.
After talking it over with some members of The Lunduke Journal family of nerdy friends… the recommendation is unanimous:
LundukeFest must be delayed (no matter how much that bums me out) until everyone is well again.
As such we are not setting a firm date. We would simply say “Push it out one week”… but everyone feels that would simply curse us. So the official date of LundukeFest is being set to:
“As soon as Lunduke & his family are no longer sick. That next Saturday.”
Fingers crossed that works out to be very quickly.
Until then I’ve put all podcasts episodes on hold as well. I’ll be focused on resting, recovering, and taking care of the wife and kids. I’ll keep writing as I feel up for it (as I did earlier today)… but that’ll be done entirely while laying in bed under my nice warm blankies. ;)
Hope this doesn’t bum anyone out too much. Figure health and family come first. I know everyone in The Lunduke Journal community feels the same. Best darn group of nerds this side of the Pecos.
Besides, obviously, it’s better to have a truly great show that’s a little later than expected… than to have it earlier… but filled with coughing up gnarly stuff. ;)
