CDE and Dwarf Fortress running on the Out-of-Stock DevTerm
I want this gorgeous little slab computer so bad, it hurts.
I have generally been trying to avoid purchasing new computer hardware but, gosh darn it, I really want a Clockwork DevTerm.
Unfortunately, the DevTerm has been “Out of Stock” — with no posted ETA of when it will be possible to order new units (presumably due to all the shipping issues that have been hitting the whole country). So I am left pining over pictures that others have been posting of this magnificent looking little slab computer.
I mean… just look at it!
There is something truly glorious about the old Common Desktop Environment running on a slab computer, reminiscent of the old TRS-80 Model 100. It’s like the early 1980s meets the mid 1990s… in the 2020s.
Dwarf Fortress — which I consider to be among the best Command Line video games — running on a little slab computer? Yes please. I’ll take two.
Why am I posting this? Because it’s awesome. I want one. And I can’t order one.
If I have to suffer, then so do you. :)
DevTerm is back in stock if you hadn't spotted it already: https://www.clockworkpi.com/shop
Hate to rub it in even more, but I have my DevTerm A06 on order. I ordered it as a pre-order, but quite late. So still waiting for a shipping notification. Should been very soon though. Can't wait!
