BREAKING: Ubuntu expands in-Terminal advertising program

lunduke.substack.com

After a successful roll-out of advertising to the text output of the “apt” shell application, Linux distribution Ubuntu has expanded their “In-Terminal” advertising system to include other commonly used command line utilities.

“After we started including text advertisements in APT, I heard from Ubuntu users around the world,” stated Mark Shuttleworth, CEO of Canonical, makers of Ubuntu. “And, boy howdy, did they love it! They loved how it provided great monetization opportunities for the time people spend using their Terminal! That’s definitely the kind of thing a human would say!”

This new advertising program, code named “Milk the Terminal”, will initially include the APT, CD, LS, and RM commands. But, according to sources within Canonical, the company plans to expand to other commands in future releases, including WHOIS, PING, GREP, and TOP.

“Until now… changing directories just didn’t feel complete,” stated Shuttleworth. “Not without a My Pillow ad. You’re welcome.”
